The New Silent Majority

According to an October 12 story in Politico, Republicans ran TV ads vilifying Hillary Clinton, Nancy Pelosi, or both more than 34,000 times in the previous 30 days.
  1. Americans can be divided into seven tribes based on their core values.
  2. At the extremes are Progressive Activists and Devoted Conservatives, who make up eight percent and six percent of the body politic, respectively. Another 19% are Traditional Conservatives, lumped with the Devoted Conservatives because they have far more in common with each other than they do with anyone else. This third of the populace is the most politically noxious.
  3. The other 67% comprise “the Exhausted Majority,” whose members “share a sense of fatigue with our polarized national conversation, a willingness to be flexible in their political viewpoints, and a lack of voice in the national conversation.”
